Pilipinas Got Talent By Crissy Taruc on - Updated Oct 15, 2011

Philippines' newest nationwide reality show just began last February 20 brought by ABS-CBN. "Pilipinas (Philippines) Got Talent" is based on the Got Talent franchise of SYCO Company owned by the famous "American Idol" judge Simon Cowell. It is being hosted by Billy Crawford and Luis Manzano while the panel of judges consists of former ABS-CBN executive Freddie Garcia, actress/comedian Ai-Ai Delas Alas and well-known actress/TV host Kris Aquino-Yap.

I got to watch the first two days of the talent show and it was indeed full of fun and surprises. There are performers who easily got three Xs and some were fortunate to finish their performances. Since everyone is welcome to show their talents of course there are contestants that really made the televiewers laugh. But there are others that really made the audience wow. With the first two days of its airtime I liked the performances of 2 kids who showed their singing prowess. Likewise love the 2 group performances of teenage boys and a dancing talent of one pair.

As I look and listen to the remarks of the panel of judges, I can't help but remember the same scenario as I watch "Britain's Got Talent" and "American Idol." Being a judge from such kind of a show is indeed exhausting and patience must be there. Of course it is hard for the contestant to hear the word "NO" but the judges' sweet "YES" gives them hope to hold on to their dreams.

I enjoy watching such show as it gives chance to talented people who find it hard to be noticed in the field they are good at. It opens the door for more opportunities to those people who are really talented and only an exposure will unveil them. The line up was indeed long but success is not a bed of roses. The contestants must really show their deep commitment and aspiration for them to be given a chance to show their talent.
