Wild Ginseng
By Kelly White onToday I am writing about wild Ginseng.Ginseng is a natural herb that grows in the deepest of woods. Ginseng has been used in traditional Chinese medicines for many years. The Chinese pay alot of money for Ginseng. Not only do the Chines use it for medicines, but so do alot of other people. I am one of them. Ginseng is known to increase levels of mental clarity and alertness. It can also reduce levels of stress, reduce fatigue, and fight off colds, the flu, and different types of infections. Ginseng will also increase you sex drive. You can buy Ginseng in pill form or root form. The root of the Ginseng plant is the most valuable. You can also use the leaves of a ginseng plant to make tea. Have you ever heard of ginseng tea? If you feel intergetic enough you can venture into the woods to find some Ginseng. Ginseng is a little hard to find at first but once you find it, it gets easier to find. Ginseng grows in moist wooded areas. Usualy in a gully. Although you can find it growing in the strangest places. Ginseng doesn't like to be too wet or too dry. And it loves the shade of the tall trees. If Ginseng gets too much sun it will die. You can star seeing ginseng around May. But it is illegal to pick it untill the berries on the plant turn red. And when you pick the root out of the ground you have to do it carfully, not to cut or damage the root. This lessens the value of the Ginseng. Unless of course you are picking it for yourself for medical reasons. After you pick the root it is only proper to burry the seeds back into the ground. This insures the growth of Ginseng for fowling years. Ginseng is more scarce than it was many years ago. People dig it out of the woods without replantiing the berries, and animals love to eat it. You can research Ginseng moore on the Internet. In some states Ginseng is protected. So before you decide to dig make sure you read up on it. Ginseng can sometimes range from $250.00 to $500.00 a dried pound.

Great information soccormom and thanks for sharing it. Do Ginseng plants grow in only certain regions though, or do they grow naturally in most regions?
Ginseng grows in regions that have at least 60 days of below freezing tempetures a year, naturally or cultivated. Usually for North America any region above mid North Carolina to Canada.
