Automotive / Convertibles / I WANT MY LOVE BUG!!!

volkswagon beetle bug image review love volkswagon image

Ok unfortunately this review will probably make me seem really old to most of you, but its ok I am so excited! Yes I grew up in the 60's and my dream car was always a Volkswagon Bug! Of course at that time I wanted a orange bug with yellow flowers on it or a purple one with pink polka dots! Oh that is so 60's...

Well believe it or not it has taken over uhm 30 years and I finally got to not only sit in my dream car but drive it. One of the guys I work with drove his daughters Bug into work. I pulled into the parking lot and almost died. When I came into work I told him how that was the car I always wanted. He told me I could take it for a drive at lunch time. I jumped on the offer and spent an hour just driving this dream machine around. Ok so its not orange or purple, this one is cherry red with a tan convertible top and it looks really sharp, I would take red!

Unfortunately I couldn't put the top down but I got the feel for what it would be like if I could! Everything that I thought I would love about this car came true. It is really comfortable inside, yes it is on the small side but not small enough that it makes it you feel trapped. It has great pick up and gas mileage. This particular one is not diseal which I like, diseal fuel in these parts have sky rocketed. I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet it was. I have been told that all convertibles are very loud on the inside. I thought this might be the case because this has the soft convertible top, not the hard top but Volkswagon did a great job in designing this convertible. I didn't feel or hear any air leaks.

The interior is so cute, yes it has the little vase to put your flowers in and everything is very accessible and well put togther. The seats are leather and very comfortable to sit in. I think they did a great job on designing the interior of the car. It has everything you could want right at your finger tips. The other thing I think is really fun and cool is the trunk is in the front of the car. Why I think thats so neat I have no idea, other than it just makes it different!

The only thing bad about this is now I really really want one! This is such a cute, fun car to drive, I now can't wait until my lease is up and I can buy one.

Ok all you flower children of the 60's how could not love this car, remember Herbie!!!!

  • Nice to see you in the picture Debbie :) This is a cute car and it was very popular when I was growing up in the 70's. It was always the first car most of the 16 year olds would want to be driving. It has lasted in popularity through the years. I think it's still as popular or maybe even more popular as it was back in those days. I love the vase for the flower inside the beetle :) Very nice looking and pratical for the gas prices !

  • I LOVED MY BUGS!!!!!! A bug was my dream car too, I wanted one forever. In 1998 when they rereleased them my finance managed to get me one even though they were on waiting lists. I got stopped by people everyday looking at it and asking me questions. Three years later I was pregnant with twins so we traded it for a station wagon. When the babies did not arrive as planned it took 3 years but I found a great deal on a used 98 and got a new one. Ten months ago with my children getting big and the fact that after almost 10 years the poor car was going to need work, I traded it in for yes another station wagon. I miss my bug sooo much. I look forward to getting another asap.
