When gas prices started really going up, we decided to get rid of one of our gas guzzlers and get a car with better gas mileage. We wanted something with some cargo space and fairly good seating, yet was still inexpensive. We settled on the Jeep Patriot.
Overall, the Patriot is a comfortable car to drive. It's not luxurious, especially since we chose a pretty base model. However, it's still comfortable and a pretty easy ride.
Our model came standard with Sirius radio, which is nice. Unfortunately, there was no option to get a navigation system or DVD system installed. It does have a cd player, but other than that, the electronics in the Patriot are pretty basic. There's no dual air controls, the seats aren't power, There are power windows and locks, and it does have an alarm system.
Our Patriot gets decent gas mileage - about 25 mpg in town and close to 30 on the highway. With gas prices the way they are, we are more than willing to sacrifice luxury for better gas mileage!
The Patriot seats 5 adults somewhat comfortably, with a bit of cargo space. I highly doubt you could fit 5 adults and 5 suitcases, but maybe one or two suitcases (and definitely two large dogs!).
I'd recommend the Patriot for someone looking for a smaller SUV that gets decent gas mileage.
