Beauty / Beauty Tools / ConAir Straightening Iron

iron straight shiny image

This completely unremarkable product can be bought at your local drugstore or mass-merchandiser for about $15.  After using it, I would definitely say don't bother.  The velvet plates did nothing but create static in my hair, and the plain metal (aluminum?) plates never got hot enough to have any real straightening effect on my hair.  At first, I thought that I just hadn't waited long enough for the iron to heat up.  But even after letting it sit untouched for 30 minutes, there just wasn't enough heat for the iron to work.

The other issue I have with this straightener is that, since the heat plates don't extend to the ends of the plastic casings, my hair frequently snagged as I attempted to use it.  I did a better job straightening my hair with a paddle brush and my blow dryer.  Leave this product on the shelf - it just doesn't work!
