Kurt Vonnegut is easily one of my favorite authors. In Cat's Cradle, the storie's narrator is a man who is writing a book about where everyones precise location was when the atomic bomb was dropped in Hiroshima. He never expected the long exciting and unpredictable journey this would take him on. This book is definitely a trip to read and an unforgettable ride. When you start reading this book you never could of guessed that it would end in the entire world's demise. When the narrator investigates further into the creator of the bomb, Dr. Hoenniker, he finds that the man was quite mad. The narrator also finds out that Dr. Hoenniker had invented something called "Ice-9." What this Ice-9 does is when it touches water, it freezes it entirely and if anyone touches this ice afterwards, that person would freeze solid. Also, if the Ice-9 were to touch an ocean, the entire earth's water would all eventually freeze, thus causing the end of the world.A big theme in this book is bokonism. This is a made up religion in the book who's foundation is that all religion, inculding bokonism, is made up entirely of lies. But, if you believe and adhere to these lies then you will have a good life and peace of mind. This satirical take on an apocalyptic tale and man's madness is definitely a pleasure to read and I would reccomend it to anybody, as well as any other Vonnegut book.
