Books Movies & Music / Fiction Books / My Sister's Keeper by Jodi Picoult

"My Sister's Keeper" is the first Jodi Picoult book I read, and she has quite a fan base judging by the number of NYT Bestsellers she has written.  "Sister's" is the story of the Fitzgerald family and their fight to keep their daughter Kate, who has leukemia, alive. Their main weapon is their youngest daughter, Anna, who was conceived in an attempt to provide a bone marrow match for Kate.  Now 13, Anna's life has revolved around painful procedures inflicted on her in an effort to save her sister.  No one, however, has ever asked Anna her permission.  Feeling stuck between wanting to save her sister and not wanting to risk her own health, Anna hires a lawyer to help her gain control over her own body.  The result is the entire family torn apart, and it ends in a shocking twist no one saw coming.

Picoult has crafted an excellent tale, and it's a page turner from start to finish.  The book is currently being made into a movie staring Cameran Diaz and Dakota Fanning, so be sure to read the book now so you can compare it to the film when it comes out.
