This gardening book "Perennial All Stars" was written by Jeff Cox the host of the former HGTV show "Grow It" and published by Organic Gardening Magazine. Whether you're a novice or experienced gardener you will want to add this to your bookshelf. It showcases 150 of the best perennials for easy maintenance and abundant color. I have grown just about all the perennials in this book and I commend Jeff Cox for putting this great list together in a colorful, informative book.
The book has 344 pages with 2 pages of information and pictures for every plant listed. There is an introduction by Jeff Cox and 6 pages on the ten steps to starting a perennial garden. In addition, there are 12 pages of information on which of the 150 plants are the best in certain situations. For example, plants that are less than 2 feet tall, plants for sun, shade, or wet and dry areas.
There is a separate block of information for each plant that gives you the USDA plant hardiness zone, season of bloom, height & width at maturity, flower color, light requirements, soil requirements, and place of origin. There is even a list of possible plant sources and seed sources to purchase the plants.
I highly recommend this book for any gardener. It makes a nice gift.
