It seems just like yesterday when I walked into Borders and bought my first Shojo Beat magazine. I remember patiently waiting for the first volume to hits the stands because I heard so many promosing things about it. Sure enough, I found that Shojo Beat was more than promising, it actually delivered to Shojo (manga marketed towards a female audience) fans all around the world.

Shojo beat featured six different manga series each month in their magazine. They also featured articles on anime, manga, beauty, fashion, and Japanese culture. Shojo Beat is also known for being the first English manga anthology to use two colored tones in their magazine just like the manga anthologies in Japan.

I adored this magazine so much, I think it's because it actually kept me in the loop on many things happening in Japan and here in the U.S manga scenes. Not to forget that the price was really cheap and affordable for me to indulge in something I like. Sadly, Shojo Beat magazine final issue hit the stands in July 2009. They stated, "The magazine developed quite a fan base but unfortunately in today's difficult economic climate we felt the need to place our resources elsewhere at this time."

I can completely understand their decision and I will surely be missing them. Although, they promise to keep their website updated anime information, manga previews, contests, newsletters, games, DIY, cooking, and fashion aticles. So, it'll be like the print magazine online it'll be online.
