My son is tall for his age but he is also a skinny little thing. We have a terrible time finding jeans for him that fit him in the waist and don't fall down but are also long enough so he does not look like he's waiting for a flood. Being a true boy, he is also really hard and clothes and grows quickly when he hits a spurt so it's just not worth it to spend alot on his jeans.
After trying on pair after pair, we discovered Rustler Legendary Gold regular cut boys jeans at Target. They are made of a heavy 100% cotton fabric but are still soft and comfortable. These jeans are great because they have an adjustable waistband. Inside the waistband on both sides there is an elastic band that runs through the seam of the waistband and it has button holes in it. You simply pull the band evenly on both sides until the jeans are the width you need and then slide the button hole over the button. From the outside you can not tell anything was done but this allows us to purchase larger size jeans that fit him in the length and then adjust the waist to match.
These jeans are also built well and he has out grown them before he has worn them out. The only problem I have had with the jeans is that the waist band is thick with the extra material and elastic in there and most of the time the jeans come out of the dyer with that part still damp. We now save time and money and just go to Target for jeans instead of shopping around.
We have tried other brands of jeans for my son as he has grown but we find that the Rustler boys jeans still fit him the best and offer the best value for the money.
They sure needed this kind of jeans when my best friend's son was small. Pants simply would not stay up on the little guy. Now he's 6 feet tall and has the same problem, but he tends to notice better when they are slipping than he did when he was four!
Glad you were able to find what he needed. I think sometimes the manufacturers think all kids are chubby now a days. I hope Target continues to carry these in other sizes for him when he grows out of kid's sizes!
Your son has the same challenge as mine does-hard to fit in the waist & we have bought Rustlers for him because of the adjustable waistband-works like a charm!
