  • Circle of Love

I received this necklace from my kids for Mother's Day last year. It was such a wonderful surprise but for reasons that really didn't have to do with the fact that this was a dimaond necklace. Here is the history of this I would like to share with you.

When I lived in Hawaii I learned something very valuable about the circle. As most of you know that have ever been to Hawaii it is tradition to give a lei upon arrival. Lei's are given out often in Hawaii for all kinds of occassions. I truly loved them and always enjoyed them when I got them. I never understood the meaning of them and just always thought they were a nice jester. One day I was talking to a very close friend who was Hawaiian and we got on the subject of lei's. He started explaining about the meaning of the lei and each flower represents something different and the number of strand mean something different. It was very interesting but what he told me at the end really hit home and has made me look at cirlces in a whole new way. He said..the lei is a circle and when it is given in friendship, love etc it is given in a circle which tells you there is no beginning and no end to this friendship, love etc. It really hit me and I thought it means unconditional love.

I taught me kids the meaning of this circle and that my love for them was a circle, there was no beginning and there is no end. As most mothers know you hope your kids listen and get something out of what you teach them but you are never quite sure until one day they surprise you.

That is where this necklace comes in. When they presented it to me it came with a card that said, Our love for you is a circle, there is no beginning and there is no end! Wear this close to your heart and know that even though we have begun our own lives we will always be there for you, just like you are always there for us. You can't even imagine the tears the felll that day.

This necklace is white gold and has tiny dimaonds all around the circle with one diamond in the center. It is one of my most precisous pieces. Each time I wear it, it reminds me of how much I love my kids and how much they love me!

    • This brought tears to my eyes. What a great story. I didn't know the meaning of a circle, now I do.

    • What an awesome story...neat kids too! I had heard the meaning of a circle before - it's usually brought up in wedding ceremonies. :D
