These shoes were purchased because of the good reviews I had always heard about them. These Doc Martens are an oxford type tie shoe with a heavy lugg sole. After purchase of these approximately $110.00 shoes, I had walked in the rain with them. A sort of an avoidable situation. Weather happens! After they dried, I noticed an awful putrid smell from them. The only thing I could figure was something wrong with the tanning of the leather or something wrong with the shoe stains, etc.... I could not wear these shoes in a closed vehicle.............my friends were complaining about the smell! When I decided to go to the online site for these shoes and see if I could get some answers, I found that the company was saying to always be vigilant about spraying the leather and stay out of a wet situation with them. Now these are in no way an indoor shoe, as I said before, they have a heavy lugg sole.I have no recourse with these shoes except not to ever wear them. This was a waste of my money and I will most likely be afraid to repurchase anything else from them.

That could happen to anyone who buys those shoes. The company that made those should have included that info with the shoes and maybe even have put on a protective coating themselves. I know they will not do it but they should refund everyones money that had these issues.
