This is a great Burner for those of you who may not want to give in to technology! This is so easy to use.
It has a ton of different ways you can hook this up to your video source. I have a ton of 8MM tapes, from various trips, and holidays, and this was so easy to use to transfer them to DVD! You just hook up your source, pop the DVD in, and hit record...
The manual has instruction sections for whatever type of device you are using. The small LCD screen lets you see what you are recording as it is being copied, but does not provide sound. This also copies in real-time. So, for an hour recording, it will take an hour.
I said before that it includes quite a few types of inputs, here is the list.
The unit has slots for the following memory cards:
Sony Memory Stick- Duo, and Pro
SD Memory Cards
SDHC Memory Cards
xD Picture Cards
Compact Flash Cards, Type 1 and 2
The VRD-MC5 features the following A/V inputs on the left hand side of the unit.
USB
Analog Stereo (for VCR, or TV)
Composite Video (Video Camera, or VCR)
S-Video (Video Camera)
DV (Digital Video Camera)
There are also many modes of recording quality, remember, the higher the quality, the less you can record on a single DVD.
High Quality
High/Standard Quality
Standard Quality
Low Quality
Standard/Low Quality
You can also hook this up to your PC, if you wanted to get more technical, and use the software that it comes with to create more creative and dramatic DVD’s. I however, just wanted to be able to hook this up to my video source, either my DVR, or my camcorder, and record something that I already had.
This does not come with any cables other than the power cable. Since there are so many ways for you to hook up video to this, I imagine they could not afford to include all the cables. Besides, you should already have them, if you won a VCR, or camcorder.
There are a ton of features, and I am not sure I could include them all in this review.
For those of you not using NTSC format, it does provide the use of PAL’s color system as well.
If you’d like something easy to use, with a ton of options, if you’d like to use them later, this is a great choice.

This looks like what I need instead of what I have. Thanks for the information!
Sounds awesome, my husband would love it. Thanks for the great information, excellent job!
I so need something like this, I will have to put it on my list. I have all of our wedding tapes on those little 8mm ones and could easily put them on dvd. Sounds like a wonderful product.
