I chose the Thinkpad R61 as an alternative to lenovo's forerunner, the T61, because of a lower price. Lenovo thinkpads are excellent laptops for businessmen, students, and just anyone needing the combination of power and portability. I opted for the extra 7 cell battery, and get about 5 hours of battery life when in stretch mode. Lenovo has also included many tools with their laptops, such as advanced battery options with power controls so that you may get an even greater experience out of your laptop. Also, as a student and gamer, this laptop certainly did NOT let me down. I opted for the nvidia quadro 140 and get around 50fps in games like Half-life 2, and up to 75fps in World of Warcraft. I also upgraded the memory to 3 gigs and have not been let down at all by this laptops performance. I used to work as a computer/laptop repairman in a computer store and can safely say that Lenovo makes one of the most sturdy and reliable laptops in the market today.
