Computers / Modems / AT T Modem

When I first moved into my house I decided to go with AT&T DSL. It was cheaper than cable and I figured for as much downloading as I do it would do. I was right. I had no problems with this modem, downloaded music with ease and connected to any site I wanted pretty fast.

I then got an offer from Comcast and switched over to cable. Well long stroy short that was a mistake. Their cable internet is great but the price just kept creeping up. I decided I was going back to AT&T.

When I called AT&T they asked me if I still had my modem and I said, I think its stored under the bed somewhere! They suggested I try to find it because they weren't offering them free anymore and I would have to pay $50 for a new one. So off I went under my bed (OK guys I know what your thinking, I have storage area under my waterbed with drawers!) and finally found it. I was a little concerned it had been under there for over a year and I wasn't sure if it would still work but worth a try instead of paying $50.

When AT&T called and said my DSL was up I plugged it in and crossed my fingers. Guess what? Worked like a charm and I haven't had one problem with it! I honestly can say the speed to me seems the same as cable. I am very happy with it and don't plan on changing anytime soon!

  • Great you were able to switch back with no problems. They always seem to offer specials and then it's not so special when they start raising the price up each year!

  • I also use a speedstream modem and find it works really well. We have had the same modem for over 4 years. Every once in a while we have had to reset it, but other than that - knock on wood - it's been all good!

  • My sister and I both use the Speedstream modems. For us, they tend to go out after about 2 years. We've both had to replace them.
