When we original bought the multipass we loved the all in one features it offered, including scanning, copying, printing and faxing.  We also liked that we could plug the digital camera right into the printer or use the memory card slot.

In the beginning this was a great printer, we used it a lot.  Good color quality, printed fairly quick.  Paper capacity was about 50 sheets though.

Then one day the black ink cartridge stopped printing.  Assuming I was just out of ink, I replaced the cartridge.  No luck.

We kept using the printer for the color features.  And used our laser for all b/w printing.  Then one day the magenta portion of the color cartridge stopped working.  Once again I replaced the cartridge.  No luck.

I took apart the print cartridge from the print head and cleaned it.   I was able to determine the ink was actually flowing from the cartridges into the print head.  For whatever reason it just wasn't printing.

Upon an internet search I found this to be a common problem amongst all MP390 owners.  It was a faulty printhead.  The only option was to replace the printhead.  Those who had the machine said that even with the new printhead eventually the problem would occur again.

Very disappointed that cannon answer was to pull the mp390 but no resolution for those of us who bought it and were left with a faulty machine.  The mp390 can still be found here and there, and I hope this review will help anyone who sees one at a good price somewhere to know it is not a good buy after all.
