Electronics / Cellular Phones / Sidekick LX Cell Phone

I have wanted a Sidekick for as long as I could remember. The first time I saw Paris Hilton whip one out on TV, I have wanted one. Yes, I have celeb envy.

4 Years later, I finally purchased myself a Sidekick. The LX model in the color brown.

What I Love:

I love the fact that I can text with ease. The keyboard is a full QWERTY keyboard with enough room in between each button for me to easily tap out a text message or email without having to look at the keyboard.

The screen is a swivel screen, which is way cool. A little tap to the 3 inch full color screen, and the screen swivels up to the top and can be held like a mini pocket PC.

I also love the fact that AIM, Windows Messenger, and Yahoo Messenger are built in applications on the phone. I never miss a message with these features, and it allows me to keep in touch with friends and family in a whole new simplistic way.

I love the fact that I can send myself reminder alerts, I can download ringtones, message alerts, email alerts and so on.

I also love the design of the phone. It fits in the palm of my hand with ease, and has a sleek shiny finish that makes it look classier than an iPhone.

All in all I love the Sidekick LX, but where it has its jaw dropping cool factors, it also has some suck factors.

What Sucks:

The volume blows! It is very hard to hear a phone conversation if you are not in a quite environment. Trying to hear what the other peson is saying is hard outside where noise will effect it.

The internet connection runs slowly at times, and lags.

The screen is harder to see in direct outdoor sunlight.

You cannot download free ringtones. You must purchase everything on the phones built in download catalog application!

It only allows you to store 10 ringtones. A new OTA is coming out soon though that will allow you to hold a bit more, but nothing spectacular here.

The camera takes good photos outside, but in poor lighting it looks grainy.

All in all I still love the phone for its text messaging, keyboard, apperance, and ease of use. It does have its downside, but I needed it mostly for texts, and email.

  • You would think that there would be a volume control so you could actually hear your conversations. I'm glad that you are so happy with your new phone.
