It was my husband's idea to get this Blu-ray disc player, I was perfectly happy with the DVD player we had and I didn't want to spend the money. But I must admit that this is one dandy player, and Blu-ray discs are absolutely great to watch. Phenomenal color and picture quality. The Sony BDP-S300 Blu-ray Disc Player is a nice unit. The remote accesses all of the features of the unit, and it's even a nice-looking piece of equipment. Some of the features include a parental control option, Bravia Theater Sync, and 24p True Cinema. I don't even know yet what some of this stuff is, but I do know that the unit gives you a great viewing experience. You can change your picture to one of four different formats: wide zoom, full, normal and zoom. You can also change the picture to a cinema quality, which mimics the way the picture would look in an actual theater. You can also play regular DVDs (not Blu-ray) in this player, and they will look even better than usual. It is an all-around great unit, and I'm glad that we purchased it. If you want an experience in viewing pleasure that is one step up from regular DVDs, you must try the Sony BDP-S300 Blu-ray Disc Player. I don't think you will be disappointed.

We're in need of a new DVD player. Now blu ray is the new trend but I'd rather wait a couple of years because we don't really watch DVDs much anyway and $400 seems ridiculous.
with how expensive this is i would just get a ps3 as the blu-ray player is built with it and is cheaper as they lowered the price to $299 now.
