The TomTom One is TomTom's entry level GPS device, priced at just under $300. Despite its price, the One comes packed with features including text-to-speech functionality, 3D maps, maps of both Europe and America, and Bluetooth capability. I decided to give this sleek little device a go after my Garmin was stolen and have found that it fits the bill in most every aspect.
The touch screen works flawlessly and I found the directions on the One to be sufficiently accurate. The screen is bright (albeit a little smaller than more recent devices) and the voice directions clear and easy to understand. My biggest complaint with the One is its points-of-interest database. While other devices that I have used break things like restaraunts down to Chinese, Fast Food, etc the One simply lists all nearby restaraunts, making it slightly less convenient to use the POI feature. I rated the screen low because of its size, but Tomtom has already addressed this issue with the release of the TomTom One XL.
All in all, a great entry level GPS device that won't break the bank.
