Zen Stone Plus 2GB falls short of satisfying

I bought the Zen Stone Plus (2gb) after having a $300 Ipod stolen from me, as an attempt to escape paying hundreds of dollars on an MP3 player.

With the Zen Stone Plus, you get what you pay for. Even though they cater to PCs, most PC MP3 players will still function on a mac (although there usually isn't support software) as you can drag and drop the MP3 players. The Zune stone is not MAC compatible what so ever.

While the Apple market is much smaller than the PC market, those PC users beware, because I could hardly get this MP3 player to work on a PC. It offered support software, which wasn't helpful, the MP3s could be loaded on, but somehow the player would erase them all while charging, or, the mp3s would stay on the player and would play for 30 seconds before another song that wasn't even on the player anymore started playing.

The sound quality was poor, the ear buds were cheap and awful ( I highly recommend buying decent headphones for any mp3 player. It was difficult to navigate through this MP3 player as there is no scroll wheel, you have to do lots of clicking. There is a screen which gives it a one up on the IPOD shuffle, but for $60 dollars, it wasn't worth the savings.

I liked the price, the fact that it had a screen, and the size. It was a cute little thing, but after 2 weeks of fiddling with it to try to get it to work, I only managed to really be able to use it once.

  • Thanks for the info. I have an ipod but always wondered if the cheaper ones were just as good. Thanks for answering the question.

  • It sounds like this was one of those times when a bargain was anything but! I am really sorry that you had your ipod stolen... and feel for you that you were not able to get a quick and cheap replacement. Did you end up going out and getting another ipod?
