Electronics / Remote Controls / One To Rule Them All

As modern man almost all of us believe in the he who dies with the most toys wins motto. But with that victory comes the piles of remotes for each and every toy we own. Its hard to look cool picking up remote after remote looking for the one that works with each device you have tjust to play a movie. Enter the universal remote to ease our pain. Unfortunately most work a little with each device or have complex schemes of programming to accomplist task on various remotes. Enter the Harmony One. It first off is a dream to setup. You cherge it on the included cradle. It fits snugly and looks sexy with its contoured shape and nice color lcd screen. Once charged by connecting via usb cable to your computer you visit the manufacturers website. Answer questions about the models and makes of your devices. After which you answer questions about your setup in simple easy terms. Once done disconnect the remote and go through a self test which helps catch any errors in what you just did. And then voila a fully functioning remote for your devices with preprogrammed functions like watch dvd, watch satelite tv, play game system. The remote does the rest.  It has great battery life and has a motion sensor to turn the backlighting and display on once moved from a resting position. My only complaints are a better broadcast of signals to your devices so each function always gets through. And a lack of support for radio based remotes which means your equipment or sensors must be in site of remote so no hiding equipment. All and all a great interface and slick device for the money that I would highly recommend.

  • LOL at the title! Seems a bit pricey, but probably worth it if you have tons of remotes lying around.

  • Oh, I should give my hubby this so we don't bicker on the remote controls' whereabouts... =) Nice info!
