We've always been fortunate to have great coverage with an Insurance Company and not pay high premiums.  When our last broker retired, we decided to hunt for another provider and who better to deal with than a Company you've got your money with.  We decided to look at what TD CanadaTrust Insurance, an affiliate of  TD Canada Trust Banking,   had to offer us. 

When we purchased the new car and then the new truck, we wanted to ensure that they were completely insured and after calling TD CanadaTrust insurance, it was a simple matter of providing them with the information pertaining to the vehicles, the VIN numbers, how much deductible we wanted and whether or not we wanted such things as USA Travel Insurance, Rental Vehicle Insurance and Vehicle Replacement in case of an accident as well as Third-Party Liability, which allows us to drive other people's vehicles and still be insured under our policy.

Overall,  Insurance for our two newer vehicles and coverage for myself, my husband, our oldest son and including insurance that covers the new drivers in the family while they are under their G-1 restrictions, is $156 per month.  With this coverage we have complete Road Side Assistance, Travel Insurance coverage which also includes a Life Insurance coverage if we fly and which further covers costs in the event our luggage is lost to help us pay for the essentials and some clothing in the event we are without our luggage for a 24 hour period or more, Traveler's checks insurance should we have our checks lost or stolen while on vacation, a vehicle rental at no charge if either of our vehicles should have to go in for repairs due to an accident,  and of course the standard Fire, Theft and Comprehensive packages.  Our Liability coverage is for 1Million per vehicle and in the event one of the vehicles is written off, the insurance coverage will take care of a new vehicle as well as the Rental of an interim vehicle until we can arrange to choose another car.

Our monthly premiums come out of our bank account automatically the same date every month which makes it very convenient for budgeting purposes.  Any time we need to make a change due to wanting more coverage or to add or remove an option, we simply phone a 1-866 number and are put through to an Insurance representative who is always friendly, helpful and very good at their job.

Fortunately, we've never placed a claim with this insurer but from what we understand and have heard from others, they are quick to process claims and are fair in doing so.  I think we'll be staying with TD CanadaTrust Insurance for awhile longer.

Apr 17/9: If an accident has ever been stress free - this is it.  My husband's accident was at 6pm, by 7 the insurance had the info & faxed it to their repair depot by 8pm.  Next morning after 1/2 hr inspection he had the estimate, the insurance was notified and the appt for repairs set for Monday.  Today he learned a rental has been prepared & will be waiting for him Monday morning.  We've had work done at this shop before so know that will be excellent too.  After hearing other stories about difficult transactions with insurance companies we didn't know what to expect but TD is by far one of the best - excellent from start to finish! Highly recommended.

Apr 23/09: From start to finish our accident claim & repairs were complete in under 7 days.  The repairs were done with all new parts & the repair depot & rental firm were top notch. The truck has a new grill, bumper & air foil with all new brackets & all lightbulbs replaced "just incase".  It was returned to us fully detailed, we were given a rental discount on future vehicle rentals & every step of the way we were asked if everything was to our complete satisfaction.  We are more than a little impressed with TD Insurance & the companies they have partnered with when accidents occur - we highly recommend this insurance company without hesitation.
