When we first bought our house, I wanted an easy way to pay all or most of our bills.  I figured I would start by having our Nicor (gas) bill come directly out of our checking account.  I went to the Nicor web site and clicked on online bill pay.  Apparently Nicor doesn't directly to online bill pay, they go through mycheckfree.com. 

I did some research into mycheckfree.com and it seemed to be a legitimate company with good service.  I then signed up with my Nicor bill.  

I wanted to see if I could pay any other bills on mycheckfree.  Thankfully the site is very easy to use and navigate.  I clicked on the icon for add e-bills.  I was taken to another screen.  On this screen you can search for all your bills or they a section which lists the online bills in your area.

In addition to the Nicor bill (gas), I was able to add  my AT&T (phone), ComEd (electricity), and my Old Navy bill.

Mycheckfree is also very easy to set up and best of all it is free.  Under your profile, you simply add your bank account information.  When you get a new bill, you are notified via e-mail.  You simply sign in and schedule your bill to be paid.  You can pick the date your bill gets paid or mycheckfree.com will automatically pay the bill a day or two before the due date.  You, of course, must authorize this first.  

I've been using mycheckfree for over 4 years now and I've never had a problem.  I only wish I could pay all my bills through mycheckfree.com.
