Having learned a very expensive lesson on our last family vacation to Florida (my daughter got her finger slammed in a door by her cousin which resulted in over $600.00 US in medical bills!), we decided that it was necessary to purchase travel medical insurance before we left Canada for our trip to Jamaica in April. We looked around and BMO was the best and easiest to purchase the coverage we needed.

I was logging into my online banking one day prior to our trip and noticed an ad BMO had on the login portal for travel and medical insurance. I clicked the link, read the ad and decided to give them a call to see how much it would cost.

What is great is that I didn't have to purchase travel insurance AND travel medical together. I could just purchase travel medical by itself. The lady asked me typical information like how many travellers, their ages, length of stay, etc. Within minutes she was able to provide me with a quote. It only cost $62.00 to insure 5 travellers medically for up to $2,000,000.00 for 10 days! This was an excellent price considering the very expensive lesson I learned on our last trip. I told her to sign me up!

The whole enrollement process was very easy. I gave her my credit card number and she processed the payment right away. Since we were leaving in 2 days, she even offered to email be my policy purchase confirmation and policy details. Since snail mail wouldn't make it in time before we left I was able to print these documents off of my home computer and put them with our passports.

Well, we didn't have a medical emergency this trip (thank goodness!) but if we had, we would have had the necessary coverage we needed from BMO. Signing up was easy, the cost ofthe travel insurance was very reasonable and the lady I spoke with provided me with top notch customer service - all reasons for you to get BMO travel insurance for your next trip! I know I will!

It's been almost a year since our trip to Jamaica and 1st purchasing the travel insurance from BMO. We took the kids to Florida for March Break and this time I actually just purchased the insurance coverage I needed directly from the website, printed my insurance card and packed it with our travel documents (i.e. Passports, etc.). It was even easier to buy the travel insurance we needed online! We didn't use it for this trip but having the piece of mind from knowing that I am covered in case of an emercency is well worth the $62.00 I paid. YES - it's still $62.00 to insure 5 travellers!
