Within the last year I took on a new job that requires me to travel about 75% of the time.  Since I live in a small town and not near a large airport I must travel through Atlanta to get to my final destination.  Anyone that travels realizes that there are some very long layovers anytime you fly through Atlanta, so I needed something to pass the time.  I love to read books but it tends to make me sleepy so I had to find another means of passing time.  Much to my surprise my wife bought me a Playstation PSP to use on my travels.  it is lightweight and protable so it doesn't take up much space in my computer bag and the batteries are rechargeable.  I have not had any trouble getting through security with it and it uses headphones so the noise doesn't bother my fellow passengers.  The screen is larger than most other handheld gaming devices and the picture is much clearer.  I have found that there is a large selection of games and have had no trouble finding the ones I enjoy.  The only drawback that I have seen is with the battery life, it only lasts about 4 hours and then must be pluggged in to be recharged.  All in all I would highly reccommend this handheld for anyone who enjoys video games or has some time on their hands.
