Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare takes the famous franchise and removes it from the World War II setting for the first time, thrusting players into the present day in a heated middle Eastern conflict. To be honest, when I first heard about this, I immediately disregarded. Just as the market was flooded with World War II games, it's now being flooded with games about modern war. Fortunately, I decided to check it out anyway, and discovered one of the best first-person shooters to come along in years.

The single player campaign is an unforgettable experience of intense gameplay, beautiful visuals, and a war story that you actually care about due to the well done characters.

The multiplayer is good enough - brace yourself - to give Halo 3 a run for its money. Not only is the combat top notch, but it utilizes RPG elements in a fantastic way, giving you a ranking system that allows you to unlock new weapons and "perks" which give you special abilities in combat, such as the ability to drop a live grenade when you die or steadier aim when using the sniper rifle.

Hands down one of the best FPS's available and one of the best Xbox Live experiences.
