I am not a big fan of video games. I always wonder how my brother can play an Xbox game for hours at a time, while I get a headache from playing with half-an-hour of gameplay only. Which is the main reason why I do not play through most of the games I start.
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, is one of the few games I actually finished, and liked!
Bear in mind, I am not a huge Star Wars or Sci-Fi fan, yet I enjoyed Knights of the Old Republic, for its original story, great characters and fantastic gameplay.
It is an interactive, strategy based game. In which, you play through the journey of a young Padawan. It is basically a typical Jedi vs. Sith story, but definitely an interesting one, with lots of twist and turns to keep you engrossed throughout. I won't spoil the story here, it's best learn the plot as you play.
There is lots of character development, various combat moves, a huge inventory, which tends to get annoying trying to manage.
Apart from the main story, there are many side quests in the game. You have the option to either play or skip some of them. I suggest you do play them, as they are quite fun. The murder case, in particular, was my favourite.
Guiding your character through conversations is fun, especially if you play as a bad guy. Whatever decision you make throughout the game, will affect the ending. There are two endings, it's up to you to decide which path will you travel on - light or dark.
The combat controls are easy to handle, and extremely fun to play. Seriously, who doesn't enjoy a Lightsaber duel?
The graphic look spectacular. The cut scenes look fantastic.
I am not really a gamer, and by this review, you must have understood that I have very limited knowledge about video games. Despite that, I would say Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is one of the best games I have played, or will play. It was surely worth all those endless hours of sitting in front of my television, playing.... as it is a long game!
