Although one could argue that Oblivion is more enjoyable when played on the pc due to the freedom of downloading mods, this game is definitely worth trying out for gamers who prefer consoles. Even without modifications, Oblivion will keep the average gamer occupied for months with its main and numerous side quests. After completing the game once, players may be tempted to start a new game with a different character and race.

The game starts in the city dungoens, where the player will be able to chose the gender,race, and physical traits of his/her character. There are a total of ten races which include Argonian, Breton, Dark Elf, High Elf, Imperial, Khajiit, Nord, Orc, Redguard, and Wood Elf. Each available race has its own advantages and faults. For example, High Elves are noted for their powerful magic skills however they are vunerable to frost, fire, and shock. It is up to the player to choose what kind of character he/she wants depending on his/her style. Race selection is a key component which affects the gameplay. Players can sneak and steal their way through the game by choosing a nimble Wood Elf or they can hack and slash their way to victory by picking a tough Orc. In addition, players can further enhance their character by choosing primary attributes and skills such as block, conjuration, and marksman. When it comes to customizing a character's face, some players may be intimidated, however, with a little practical, players can make their character as beautiful or ugly as they want.

After exiting the dungeons, players are free to continue the main quest or finding some side quests. Players can choose to be in guilds such as the fighters', mages', and/or thieves' guild. Either way, following the quest tab and referring to the map is a good way to prevent aimless wandering. Other neat features in this game include the ability to raise levels, and buy and sell goods such as armor, weapons, clothes, houses, and even horses. To experience the full capacity of this game, follow both the main and side quests equally instead of completing one before the other. This way, players can take a break from the main quest, and venture other quests. Overall, The Elder Scrolls IV Oblivion is a game all rpg fans should check out.
