Craftsman Snowblower - Yes, It Blows!

We inherited this from my mother-in-law, who realized that the climate in Florida is not condusive to needing a snowblower once used in New Jersey!  We live in Colorado, and found it to be a very fortunate gift!

Now that I have the geography lesson out of the way, allow me to focus on this wonderful machine!

Being a Craftsman, it is accompanied with a lifetime guarantee which I never quite understood - does that mean MY lifetime, or the machines?  If it refers to the machine, then isn't that a defunct offer?  I digress...

The Snowblower

This snowblower is not the most powerful, but with a 5 HP engine it certainly packs a punch and is almost a little more than we need for our driveway.  It has a 24 inch cutting path which we have found to be quite sufficient and the 9" impellor cuts through the most densly packed snow.  Having said that, we tend to have winters with very light, fluffy snow that accumulates, however this passed winter, we found hat the snow was much more "wet" and heavy than usual, so this was basically where we put this snowblower through its paces, and it did us proud!  My hubby even plowed our neighbors driveways just for the fun of using it!

A 6 speed gear box allows us (or should I say HIM) the ease of operation at any grade of driveway etc., and the adjustable power to get through the deepest snow.  It has 2 reverse gears and 4 forward - more than on my truck!  Once in motion this feels as light as a feather and practically moves itself!

Another advantage of this snowblower is that it allows you the option of converting from gas to electric - which we have never attempted so, alas, I can't elaborate on that feature.

Costly

Having researched our inheritance online for pricing purposes (should we wish to sell it  at some point) I discovered that this sells new at Sears for approx. $1100 but I found the exact same model for sale online for $640, although I could only find one as I think when you have this you tend to want to keep it!

Overall

Albeit pricey, this 5/24 Snowblower is a "beast" and is absolutely one I would recommend!
