My daughter came home from school with a funny little cough one day. She was only 5 years old and her cough sounded a little fake to be honest. The next day I sent her to school after taking some over the counter cold medicine. She came home from school with a note from the school nurse. My daughter had allergies not a cold.
I took my daughter to the hospital and she was prescribed Zyrtec a commonly prescribed medicine that helps fight allergies. While the medicine made her very tired for the first few doses after she got use to it it had no adverse effect on her at all.
With in two days (two doses) her allergies had started to clear up. With in five days her cough, runny nose, and dry eyes were completely gone. If you or your child suffer from allergies I recommend that you talk to your doctor about Zyrtec.
