Health / Eyeglasses / Wal-Mart Eye Glasses

Wal-Mart's Glasses for children are not very durable.  The finish on my child's glasses is already coming off and he has only had them for 4 months. I also was told by another optical shop that adjusted my child's glasses that the glasses were on their last leg already.  My child had only had them for about 6 weeks!

The glasses also never seem to fit the children correctly.  Even after they have been adjusted, they still fall down on their noses.  I believe that the staff that fit the glasses are just not very qualified.  The glasses were too big for my child and the staff person that fit them should have seen that.

Furthermore, it is hard to catch the Licensed Optician on duty when you go in to have the glasses adjusted.  If the Licensed Optician is not there, then the Opticians in Training that are there can't adjust the glasses.  It seems like most the time when I go in there, only the Opticians in Training are there. I don't understand why they even have the Optical Center open if no one is there to adjust and fit glasses.

Another incident happened at a Wal-Mart in Sidney, Ohio.  My child's glasses had one of the lenses fall out, and I found out from an eye doctor not employed by Wal-Mart that the technician that fixed my child's glasses had put the lenses in backwards.  My child wore those glasses for 6 months with the lenses in wrong.

I think that Wal-Mart should leave the eye glass business to the experts and get out of it entirely!

  • Definitely stay away from Walmart vision center. Cheap quality. Bad customer service. Short warranty that goes in effect before you get the glasses.
