Honestly I had never heard of this product, and probably would have never purchased it, until the hospital sent us home with a sample after our daughter was born. Right after birth, as I assume happens with most babies, my daughters skin became very dry in the creases and began to peel after a while.

While her skin was just dry we used the sample of aquaphore. The next day there was an immediate difference. Her skin was not dry at all. It was still impossible to stop it from peeling. We stopped and bought a tube and used it a few times a day on her legs, feet, and arms. At first I was afraid to put it on her hands because I knew her hands would go directly in her mouth. After a few days the peeling on her legs, feet, and arms had stopped but her hands were still really bad. That showed me the difference the aquaphore was making. We then used it on her hands and they got better as well.  I had tried regular lotion but it did not do nearly as well. I also loved that it did not have a smell at all!

There are a few downsides to this product. It is pretty much the consistancy of vaseline. That means that it is pretty much impossible to rub in. That also makes it a little messy because it's hard to get a baby to sit still in order to put it on. I'm sure it is safe for a baby even if they get a little in their mouth but I was still very careful about that. Also in order for it to work really well you have to use it many times a day for a few days.

I would recommend this product! It is great for dry, cracked, skin and does not irritate the baby at all. It is a good price and the tube lasts a long time. I find it a lot more effective than any lotion I have tried so far on my child. Besides the mess being a little annoying, this is a great product!
