Health / First Aid Supplies / McKesson Saline Wound Flush

Before my husband's infected toe was amputated, he had a visiting nurse coming to the house daily to dress his wound.  I took notice of the different things she did to take care of his toe.  I really got an education on products for wound care.

One of the things that was used was McKesson USP Saline Wound Flush.  My husband actually had a big hole in the back of his toe where infected tissue was debrided, and the hole had to be cleansed with a saline flush for the removal of bacteria and debris that built up in the wound.  The nurse would spray this solution extensively over his toe and in the wound, and I was impressed with how well it cleansed the area.  The toe had to be amputated because infection had gotten into the bone, but the wound itself was kept very clean with this solution.  It is drug and preservative free and contains normal saline.

Anyone in need of wound care by a nurse would probably be familiar with this solution.  That's how I became aware of it.  It affords gentle cleansing for minor cuts, scrapes and skin abrasions as well.
