  • Simple to Operate, Accurate Readings

When we found out that my father suffered from high blood pressure, we immediately looked for blood pressure monitor. My friend who works in a pharmacy and lab supplier suggested this device, Omron Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor model SEM-1. We then bought it from her pharmacy at a discounted price (MSRP is around $50 but we bought it at a price less than $40, lucky us!).

    INSIDE THE BOX
This device comes in a box and contains:
    - The device
    - Arm cuff
    - A storage case for the device
    - 4 Toshiba AA Alkaline batteries
    - Manual book (in English and Chinese) and manual leaflet (in Indonesian)
    - Warranty card (2-year-warranty)

    DESIGN & DISPLAY
The design is simple with a sloppy surface on the display part to ease the reading. The display shows a pretty large font. It will show the systolic (the number at the top), diastolic (below the systolic number), and the bottom number indicates the pulse.

    PERFORMANCE
Since it comes with the instruction manual, operating it seems so easy. The Start/Stop button makes it all so simple. To turn it on/off and start measuring we use this button. The arm cuff is comfortable and it will inflate and start measuring once we press the start button, so get everything ready before you turn it on. Once we got the results on the display, it will be automatically saved. To see our previous readings, just press the Memory button. It can save up to 21 readings (great, isn't it?). To get accurate readings, we should pay attention to the position when using it and the interval of using it (wait 30 minutes after bathing, eating and/or exercising). All of these are clearly described in the manual book. The arm cuff should be replaced after 18 month of using, though, with an ideal use of four times a day. So far this device gives accurate readings.

    BOTTOM LINE
If you think that a digital blood pressure monitor doesn't give accurate readings, well, you are wrong. My friend said that this kind of device may be more sensitive in terms of readings than the non-automatic one, but believe me, this device is fabulous. It helps us, especially my father, a lot. I'm just relieved that finally he got this device since I knew he would badly need it. Simple operation and accurate, that's what impresses me when talking about this device.
