I have rosacea, and when I was first diagnosed with it, I was prescribed Metrogel, a topical gel.  Metrogel became so expensive (over $100.00 for a tube containing 45 grams) that I switched to the generic brand.

Metronidazole Topical Cream 0.75% is what I am now using.  It is a white cream that I rub onto my face twice a day, morning and night.  I have not really noticed any side effects, but I can't honestly say I've noticed any improvement either.

I have redness and breakouts, sometimes almost rashy, and even though I faithfully use this cream, I still suffer with redness and breakouts.  Once I stopped using it because I became frustrated and thought it wasn't helping.  My skin did seem to get somewhat worse during that period, so I started using it again. 

I really don't know how much this cream is helping.  I would like to see more improvement, but if I wasn't using this cream at all, my skin might be much worse.  I really don't know.  It doesn't seem to be hurting matters, I'm just not sure it's helping that much.  It is for external use only. 

This is the type of case where, if you suffer from rosacea, you would have to see for yourself if this would work for you.  I'm still on the fence as to whether it is helping me or not.

The active ingredient is metronidazole 7.5 mg. Inactive ingredients are emulsifying wax, sorbitol solution, glycerin, isopropyl palmitate, benzyl alcohol, lactic acid and/or sodium hydroxide to adjust pH, and purified water.
