I have been on medication for hypertension for about 6 years now, I started out on Hyzaar and stayed on it until about 6 months ago. I was totally pleased with it and my high blood pressure was under control.

Our insurance company decides that they will no longer pay for Hyzaar and sent a list that they would be willing to pay for. My doctor decides to put me on Micardis HCT and my blood pressure is now even better than before! Although it had been in the normal or acceptable level it is now better, so the doctor and myself are happy! we both are hoping after my Gastric Bypass I can come off of it all together but in the meantime this has been a blessing.

It does have a small amount of diuretic in it, so if you have never been on one you can expect extra trips to the bathroom until your body adjust to it. I have not had any ill effects from this and am pleased.

Micardis has done something to try to help the uninsured, they have the Micardis card and it pays a portion of the cost, as long as you are uninsured and I think that is amazing! I am fortunate enough to have insurance so I am not able to use it.
