My menopause is chemically induced. So when I realized that I was not menustrating, I contacted my gynecologist. She put me through a few tests, which said that I was definitaly in menopause. She also told me that since I was on prednisone, and in early menopause that I needed to take at least 1200 to 1500 mg of calcium supplements daily.
Well, she did not give me a perscription, but she did recommend Citrical. According to her, this supplement is mixed with Vitamin D, which made it easier for the body to absorb. So even though this supplement was a little expensive, I used it anyway.
I did try another supplement, but I found that I had a hard time swallowing and I usually had a stomach ache afterwards. So I went back to the Citrical supplement.
My only problem with the tablets is that they are big. But, I have gotten used to them.
So what bout fighting osteoporosis? Well, I had a bone density test this year. My doctor was really please with my bone structure. Because I had been taking my supplements, my bones were in really good shape.

Glad your health is ok,women need to have something like this, but it needs to work.
Hi Mary, One of the guys in my WG group also takes citrical for his osteoporosis. Also, he walks two to three miles a day. He is my hero (over 80 with this disease). :-)
