I have always wondered if the Betty Crocker Bake N Fill was as easy as it looked. I never bought one because of the price and the fact that I do not make that many cakes in the first place. I just happened to find it at Bed, Bath, and Beyond on clearance for a great deal and decided to try it.
My first attempt was to make a two flavor ice cream filled cake. It took a few minutes to figure out what pan did what, but once I figured it out, filling the pans was easy. It was a little tricky baking the two layers because they each needed a different time of baking. It was at the same temperature, but I had to keep an ear out for the timer to take the small pan out.
The cake part was easy, the ice cream filling was more difficult. You need the ice cream to be soft and pliable. Once inside the cake, the ice cream did not harden very fast. You need to make the cake the night before serving if you want an ice cream center. The instructions did not tell me that.
The cakes turn out very nice using this kit. The taste is always great, but the process takes time and patience. If you like to bake you will love this product. I would not suggest trying an ice cream cake first though.

I have always wondered how these things work! Another great Bed Bath and Beyond find....I should just apply for a job there, lol.
Fun! I've seen this, but never tried it.
Interesting idea. I will have to look into it. Thanks
