Household / Furniture / Footboard Cabinet for Your Storage Needs

I have been looking for a storage cabinet that I could use in my craft room which is also our spare bedroom.  I knew what I wanted, didn't want to spend a whole lot of money and I wanted to be able to make it my own.  I remembered when our girls were in college we picked up a few do-it-yourself pieces from a very reasonable store called Furniture Outfitters that carried a lot of the Sauder furniture line.  The store reminds me of Ikea but the closest one to us is over a 2 hour drive.

We lucked out by finding this Footboard Cabinet which was in the bedroom section with twin beds.  It was exactly what I was looking for, right size, right finish, and I was so happy not to have to look any further.

This cabinet is Sauder Item #403149 and I've included a picture from their website as it's such a good one.   Then the second picture is mine and how I have arranged my craft baskets in the adjustable shelves.

Putting it together took my husband about an hour with no major problems except loosing a few screws that rolled under our couch.  The instructions were very clear and detailed with a list of all the components packed in the box.

Our cabinet is from the Falls Village Collection and the finish is called Spiced Pine.  It goes really well with the hardwood floor in the bedroom.  I can also see this as a great cabinet in any other room of the house, especially in a mud room for shoes or boots.

The dimension of the cabinet is 43-1/2" wide by 15-1/2" deep and 20-1/2" high with a weight of about 55 lbs. There are three shelves that are adjustable in height but not in the width which is approximately 12" for each section.  This turned out to be perfect for the baskets I found (another review) and it's the exact look I was going for.

I have a beautiful furniture piece, extra storage for my crafts and a place for a TV on top for anyone using the room as a bedroom.  I can change the look of my cabinet by changing the heights of the shelves and using different baskets.  You could also use the shelves to store books, records, CD's and DVD's.  Check out the website www.sauder.com for their entire line of furniture.
