Household / Furniture / Great Kitchen Island Cart!

My husband ordered this for me through his work's incentive program, though I have found it online using Google search.

I was excited when we received this today because my kitchen has next to no counter space (and what we do have is used up by just a few small appliances). Up until now I have been using the top of our chest freezer as extra space, but sometimes that just won't do.

We got this via UPS today and instead of waiting for my husband to come home from work I decided I'd surprise him by having it all set up. When my baby went down for a nap I opened the box up and took a look.

First thing I noticed was that the packing was really well done. I'm not usually crazy about packaging as usually it seems to be a minor concern to most companies, but this packing really impressed me. Each of the smaller pieces were wrapped to avoid scratching and the large pieces were separated by 1/4 inch sections of styrofoam. The manufacturers really put their minds to making sure the product came without any problems.

Assembly was super simple. The instructions were easy to follow and followed a logical set up. Everything required for assembly came included (with the exception of a Phillips screwdriver), and there was one extra of each screw. Certain pieces, such as the hinges on the doors, were already attached, reducing my work by a few steps. On top of that, the materials used are super sturdy.

Assembly time took about an hour and a half, but I also have to factor in the fact that my infant son woke up shortly after I started and decided he wanted to help. If that doesn't attest to the ease of construction, I don't know what will.

The finished product is gorgeous and works well with the rest of my kitchen decor. Not only that, but I like being able to move it around to a place where the extra space is most convenient. The top is easy to clean and is great for kneading doughs. It's also about the same height as standard kitchen counters, so it's easy to work between surfaces.

I use it daily, storing containers of flour, sugar, etc. as well as some canned goods in the cabinet. It's easy to roll around to position where I need it at the time and the work space it provides was great for rolling out cookie dough.

For anyone looking for additional space in their kitchen, this is totally worth it. I would cannot imagine my kitchen without it anymore.
