Kids / High Chairs / Space Saver Not a Time Saver

We got this Fisher Price Space Saver High Chair because we have such a small dining area, we thought it would be easier than buying a big, bulky highchair. I wish we had just gotten a big one.

I'll start with the good points- It is very easy to install, and very portable (we've taken it to Grandma's several times). It just straps on with one strap beneath and one strap around the back of the chair. So it does save space, since it uses an already existing chair, rather than having to find room for a new highchair. I do like that it has a plastic post that comes up between baby's legs, because that helps hold her in while I get the tray snapped into place. I also like that it has adjustable positions, so baby can lay back, sit straight up, or in between. This was great when Baby was little and had reflux, I could sit her in there tilted at an angle, and she could watch me cook or clean without her reflux acting up.

Now the not-so-hot points- It is hard to clean, for two reasons. 1) The seat padding is designed to come up the sides, however this creates little pockets for food to escape down into, which means to really clean it, you have to take the seat pad off every time. 2) The tray itself says it's dishwasher safe, but I'd like to see who has a dishwasher it will fit into. lol Oors hits the rotating water arm, so we can't do that, and it's difficult to just wipe out since there are two molded cup holder spaces. I can never seem to get those clean. That's where the time-wasting comes in, constantly trying to get it clean.

Also, Baby just never seems comfy in it. It's molded in a sort of rounded shape (think sort of like the Bumbo molding), but what ends up happening is Baby slides down and is sort of hunched over. I have to keep pulling her back up (and she can sit fine on her own, so it's the seat.) The straps are tricky, too, since the harness straps are a pain to get over her arms every time, so I end up not buckling her in sometimes, which isn't safe. (Bad mommy!)

All in all, it's not a bad high chair, it does the job. I just sort of wish we had gone ahead and gotten a bigger one that was easier to clean and more comfy.
