Mr. Brooks - DVD blu-ray

Mr. Brooks will pull on your Freudian slip, until you scream, "Uncle!". This is not another, Kevin Costner movie. This is a movie that Kevin, actually is forced to portray; a serial killer that begs you to forgive his evil trespasses.

This DVD is one "hoot" of a thriller that does not rely on special effects, or excessive gore, to make the ride tangible. "Mr. Brooks" catches you at the beginning and won't let you go very far, without missing a beat. It is a classic, seamless story that brings you into Mr. Brooks slice of life.

Mr. Brooks is not your typical psycho. Norman Bates could have taken some careful lessons from Mr. Brooks, concerning the benefits of having OCD. But, if he had; Mr. Bates would never have been caught.

I picked up this movie on Blu-ray Disc. It looks better than the theater version. Truly.

William Hurt plays, Mr. Brooks nasty, alter ego. Hurt is always looking over Kevin Costner's shoulder, keeping him out of harm's way. Brooks is a married philanthropist, with a daughter that comes home from college. Brooks, reluctantly, takes on a protege in his secret obsession and also has to deal with a daughter, dad discovers, inherited the wrong genes from him.

Ok, I will not spoil this for anyone. I hate it when I know too much. The cast is a who's, who. You will recognize many of the players. It was Bruce Evans, the director, who made sure, everyone was on the right page for this gem. There is a lot of love that went into keeping everything on track.

If you enjoy a good thriller, with an extra dry martini, this DVD is just what you ordered. My only regret, no one thought of adding that old Rolling Stones tune, "Sympathy For The Devil". It should have been rolling off with the credits, at the end.
