Atlantis Submarine Waikiki

I booked a scuba diving tour on the island of Oahu with Atlantis Submarines. My first dive was going to be diving along the same route as the Atlantis Submarine tour. My wife and children were going to be on board the submarine at the same time as I was diving in the area.  

If you want to get great views underwater you need to book the morning tours of Atlantis Submarines.  The sunlight is bright and that will make everything look clearer underwater. 

The submarine tour starts out at the Hilton Hawaiian Village at the check in counter.  There you get your tickets and board the shuttle ferry.  My wife and children were given instructions on what to expect once they boarded the submarine.  It was a 10 minute ride out to the area where the submarine was waiting. 

They boarded the submarine down some narrow steps.  Once inside they took their individual seats facing the viewing windows. It is air conditioned and very comfortable inside. They wore head sets so that the captain could tell them of sites like the natural and artificial reef areas.  They saw lots fish like yellow tangs, damsels, unicorn tangs, groupers and puffer fish. They even said they saw a shark! 

The tour lasted 45 minutes once they entered the submarine. Their submarine reached a depth of 120 feet.  I got to see them as the submarine glided towards my diving tour group. I saw them inside the submarine waving at me!  How cool is that?!  I got to see the same thing they viewed through their windows, but my view was upclose and personal.  I even got to feed a moray eel!

This is a tour that I highly recommend taking your family on.  If you are into scuba diving, you might want to check into the dives that are scheduled at the same time as the submarine tours.  You need to make reservations.  The submarine they took was only able to seat 48 people.   

It was a memory of a lifetime!
