I LOVE My XM Radio!!

Share and Enjoy:

I became a satellite radio subscriber because I had it in a car I rented for a trip from Kentucky to Minnesota, and I thought it was great!  I could listen to whatever kind of music I wanted, I didn't have to keep searching for stations, and it offered everything: classical, jazz, country, bluegrass, pop, hard rock, metal, and "decades" from the 40's through the 90's.  I could also listen to news, comedy, sports, and talk shows.  Any station that might contain "extreme" language is clearly marked XL.

The selling point for me was the fact that XM has the Major League Baseball contract.  We don't get a whole lot of MN Twins games in Kentucky, and this enabled me to listen to every game they played!!!  In addition, I signed up for an online account, so I can listen to selected stations at work, too.

The only problem I've ever had is, when I'm using my receiver in a rental car, I have to tune in through unused radio frequencies, and it can be a problem to find an empty radio frequency for my XM in heavily populated areas with a lot of radio stations.  However, this is a minor inconvenience, at best.

I highly recommend this to everyone.  My teenage sons and I can always find something we all like to listen to!  Usually it is one of the comedy stations, but we often go back and forth between comedy and music.  Of course, I sometimes feel compelled to torture them with music from the 80's, but they can even get into some of that, too!  It's well worth the monthly fee, which is very reasonable.

The Roady XT has a 3 line display that you can change to suit your need.  I have mine set up to show me the name of the performer, as well as the name of the song or routine.  For baseball, it shows the teams that are playing, the score, the innings, and the outs.  You can change the color of the screen, add stocks to the stock ticker, and, if you hear a song you like, you can add it to the memory.  The receiver will alert you when it is playing on any of the XM stations, and you can just press a button to "jump" to that station.  There are several different mounting options for the receiver.  It's very simple to set up, and easy to use.

  1. I think this would be fun to have in the car. I love all the different things you can choose from . It will save alot of people from trying to find just the right kind of music to listen to as they drive through the different cities.

  2. I didn't know that a generic satellite radio receiver purchasable at Radio Shack can get XM Radio -- fascinating. I thought I would need it built in to my car.
