Sweet Dreams is an edited collection of lectures given by Daniel Dennett, the reknowned philosopher of mind. As with all of his work, these lectures capture the biting wit and intellectual prowess Dennett has exhibited throughout his career. This collection, in particular, focuses on the contemporary and controversial topic of explaining human consciousness. Dennett argues for his own position, the heterophenomenological approach to explaining the various mysteries surrounding consciousness, by describing the positions of his opponents in detail and then unvealing the unfounded assumptions that support them. As always, he does so eloquently and with colorful examples/counterexamples. Dennett also provides some remarkable insights into long-standing concepts that, according to him, have confused the explanatory project as a whole; these concepts include the zombie, the subject and qualia.
