The movie 'Radio' is one that our whole family went to see as soon as it hit the theatres. It stars Cuba Gooding Jr in what I consider to be his best work. It was inspired by a true story about a mentally challenged man called 'Radio' who lived in a small backward southern town. 'Radio' was taken in by the local high school football coach who wanted to teach his team about compassion and sportsmanship. At the same time he taught 'Radio' to fit in and get along in society. He welcomed 'Radio' to football practices and gave him a place on the team making him feel needed and wanted. 'Radio' responded by focusing his life on that high school and that football team. Although there were troubles involving townspeople who didn't approve of what the coach was doing, he found the support of his students and players and eventually the whole town to be the inspiration he needed to continue his work with 'Radio'. This movie has been so inspirational to my family and has taught my children to care about others and accept their diversities.
