New York & Company Body Shapers

New York & Company Body Shapers have become an indispensible staple of my wardrobe.  Body Shapers are tank tops with adjustable spaghetti string straps and built in shelf bras that are made of a stretchy, but durable, nylon/spandex blend fabric.  They are available year round at New York & Company stores and on the New York & Company website.  In the summers they serve as great tops to pair with jeans. If you aren't large-chested, you can wear the Body Shapers on their own without an extra bra underneath because of the built-in shelf bra.  In the cooler weather, Body Shapers serve as excellent layering pieces beneath a jacket, sweater, or open-necked blouse. 

Body Shapers come in every color of the rainbow, although the available colors may vary a bit from season to season.  You are always assured of finding Body Shapers in the basic neutral colors--black, white, brown, and various shades of tan and gray.  They also come in a wide range of reds, pinks, greens, blues, purples, yellows, and oranges.  Body Shapers come in solid colors, although New York & Company sometimes has limited offerings of Body Shapers in heathered or metallic fabrics for a change of pace. 

In addition to the regular Body Shapers which have just a shelf bra--an extra layer of fabric in the bust area to provide support and coverage, New York and Company also offers Body Shapers with built in cup bras for women who have larger chests. 

My one complaint about Body Shapers is that the hem of the top tends to roll up and drift upwards if you have a little extra fat below the waist.  New York & Company has responded to this problem by making Body Shapers in a longer length.  If you have a bit of a tummy below your waist, the longer length Body Shaper will cover that and extend down to your hips.  Not only does this solve the rolling up problem, it also has a slimming effect on your appearance.

Regular Body Shapers are $20.00 regular price.  Bra-top and longer length Body Shapers are $22.00 regular price.  However, New York & Company often runs "buy one, get the second half off" sales on Body Shapers.  And New York & Company is one of those stores that is always running sales and is generous with coupons.   Just get on their mailing list the next time you go to one of the stores.  You'll start receiving great offers--the best are the coupons that give you $30 off a purchase of $75 or more and $60 off a purchase of $150 or more.  There's no reason for ever having to pay full price for you Body Shapers!
