VistaQuest VQ 1005p

Share and Enjoy:

The VistaQuest 1005p is the smallest camera in the VistaQuest line. Measuring in a tiny 2" x1", this 1.3 megapixel camera comes on a small keychain that can be attached to a belt loop or backpack.

This camera is often thought of as a toy camera. It is, however, much more. The picture quality of this little camera is surprisingly good for 1.3 megapixels. While not on par with 'real' camera's, the vq1005 offers nice pictures and makes a good backup camera.

It comes with a tiny LCD screen on the back of the screen - unfortunately, it does not offer picture viewing. The screen simply allows you to scroll through pictures to delete some, view memory space, battery left, and the date.

A small view finder comes on the top of the screen, and pops out when the camera is opened. It is essentially useless. While some people have success manipulating the viewfinder, it cannot be used to set up a composition. It either over-shoots or under-shoots, depending on the distance of the image you would like to capture.

This camera comes with a small focusing wheel on the side, though it is essentially useless due to the lack of an LCD viewfinder.

A nice surprise on this camera is the inclusive of an SD card slot. This is the only camera of this size that can take an SD card. The max size if 512 MB. It can take any size card; it will only store 512 MB worth of footage, however.

In addition to stills, this video camera can also record video (1:40min) and function as a webcam. The video is of decent quality. Objects and people can clearly be seen. The webcam function is also nice. It works as well as many mid-level webcams, far better than most $20 webcams.

This camera only works on Windows; it can be used with a Mac or Linux if you purchase an SD card, however. The videos and footage are removed via a USB cable, and requires no special software.

Overall, this is an excellent mini-camera. It can be used as a backup, or a quick-shoot camera. Since it is so small, it can be placed onto a keyring and used to capture those rare moments with relatively good quality.
