Careyes- Mexico

Born and raised in Mexico, I have had the good luck of visiting Manzanillo a couple of times. My aunt, who owns a beach house in Careyes, always goes there for vacation. While it is a relatively poor area, the locals are amazing, always warm and welcoming. Careyes is the home of the world renowned resort Hotel Careyes. If you have ever seen Kill Bill 2, it is Hotel Careyes where the final battle scene takes place. While it is quite a drag getting there, as you have to drive from the Manzanillo airport, I promise you, you won't regret it. On the drive there, there is plenty of local culture to be taken in. There's more than enough local town to stop at and eat or just walk around. During the summer, it is a very dry season there, with the occasional storm, so you;re bound to get plenty of sunshine. The beaches are incredible, and the sunsets are breathtaking. Not a very family oriented travel spot, but for a couple, it is a must.
