First Act Discovery Drum Set

This drum set was a gift for my son, who is four.  He has been begging us for a drum set since he could talk, so we finally gave in and got it for him after our feeble attempts at substituting bongo drums did not suffice.

 Am I glad we picked this set to give him!  The set comes with a 14 inch base drum with a foot pedal, 8 inch mounted tom, 8 inch mounted snare, and a 10 inch mounted brass cymbal.  It also comes with wooden drumsticks, a tuner, and a padded stool.  Everything is scaled for kids to play comfortably, but otherwise you cannot tell the difference between this set and ones that professional drummers play! 

The sound quality is excellent, and the set is very sturdy; this was very important in our buying this particular set- my son can pound away, and we have no fear of the set breaking down. 

A few things I should point out- there is some assembly required.  My husband put it together by himself in about 15-20 minutes.  The directions that come with the set are very clear and easy to follow.  The second thing I should point out- this set is LOUD!  My son loves to pretend he is a rock, and bangs away on the drums- and we can hear it outside our house!  It is ok in our neighborhood, but if you live in an apartment with close neighbors, it may be an issue.

Otherwise, I highly recommend this drum set- it is fun, affordable, and you can encourage your childs love of music.
